The institute of chartered accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has finally scrapped the May diet professional examination which is the first leg of the examinations for the year.

This is to make way for the proposed three diets (i.e. March, July, and November) in a year for the professional examinations which was unveiled at the sensitization program of ICAN 2019 syllabus review which was held at Lagos airport hotel on the 27th of July, 2019

This new arrangement will make it possible for a non-accountant graduate to become an account within a year if he/ she passes all the papers at one sitting, meaning a candidate can sit for the foundation level, skills level, and professional level all in a single year and pass them all if he is well prepared for it unlike the previous arrangement of two diets only in a year, thereby limiting the candidate to a maximum of two examinations in a year(i.e. foundation and skills), then he /she can proceed to the final stage(professional) the following year.

In effect to this, SMS had been sent out yesterday to already register candidates (i.e. those who had earlier sat for the professional examination) about the deadline for payments and registration of the examination which is 13th of March, which ICAN has said it will not be extended.

So if you are looking to sit for the March diet 2020, you are hereby advised to stick to their deadline and study hard.
