Well, I think Ikeja electricity company is doing something fishy here, I followed the procedure a fellow user wrote on this forum about how to process your prepaid meter from Ikeja electric and it was very fine. The first hurdle was that the amount of the estimated bill was quite much and in fact, I disputed the amount because it was very outrageous, imagine a residential building with only just the only occupying it and you are bringing in a bill of N10,000 plus monthly and when I asked them about it, their reasons were that were are using three-phase and that there is a shop in front of the house, I was like what! so what if the shop was a factory, it would have been N100,000 plus, God help us with this mighty Ikeja electric distribution company who wants a factory to close down all in the name of generating their own revenue.
Anyway i was called for the dispute resolution in which I boldly told them, am not going to pay this charges because I didn't use it, do you know the funny explanation they gave me then, they take their readings from the transformer meter, My people, is it only me that the transformer is supplying? or am I the owner of the transformer?.
So what I told them is that the transformer belongs to nothing less than 5 street and that even in my street alone, there are about 30 plus houses, of which some of the houses are barracks, so if there are to share the amount found on the transformer meter on the houses in my street equally there will be a problem because I will be paying for the lights used by those barracks which I didn't use .
Well to cut the story short so that I can quickly move to my main objective, they told me to pay the money and was provided a discount of 10% if I pay all at once which was quite okay by me provided I will be able to apply for the prepaid meter and leave all this their rubbish story of estimated bill.
That being done, I pushed in my online application for the prepaid meter, only to be waiting for a survey for the third weeks now and during that period, another crazy estimated bill has been brought and am yet to see the people that they said they have a contract with to do the survey. Another thing is that they are telling me they do their thing in batches and when it comes to our batch, they will respond.
These are all false because I can feel the direction of their vibes, prepaid meter means I won't be paying that bogus amount anymore which is more profitable to them, so why not delay the prepaid meter so that they can have more money for a while? it won't work, there are no free things even in Freetown, so no free money for you Ikeja electricity distribution company.
