April 10, 2020 7:23 am
Eko electricity distribution company(EKEDC) has come forward to explain that Nigerians are expected to bear their electricity bills until the federal government approves the two months free electricity supply for all Nigerians as a relief for the epidemic ravaging the country, which has necessitated the sit at home order.
EKEDC further explained that the two months’ free electricity for Nigerians was a move by the national house of assembly among other measures which is meant to cushion the effect of the sit at home order by the federal government in a bid to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
In a press release yesterday signed by the management of EKEDC, the management explained that they are in total support of the move by the federal government but the federal government has to agree to pick up the electricity bill of Nigerians used for the proposed 2 months but pending the approval of this, every electricity consumers should try as much as possible to pay their bills using the appropriate channels.
Attached is the public press release.

I thought as much, when I first saw the news of two-month free electricity for Nigerian, I was like “Is it the same Nigeria DisCos that wants the money they didn’t work for from Nigerians by giving them crazy bills and refusing to deliver prepaid meters so that they can continue the extortion or another disCos. Even if they promise to do so, be rest assured that after that 2 months free, your monthly bills will definitely jump from N10,000 monthly to N25,000 monthly. Only God will save us from the DisCos.
