Eko electricity distribution company(EKEDC) has come forward to explain that Nigerians are expected to bear their electricity bills until the federal government approves the two months free electricity supply for all Nigerians as a relief for the epidemic ravaging the country, which has necessitated the sit at home order.
EKEDC further explained that the two months’ free electricity for Nigerians was a move by the national house of assembly among other measures which is meant to cushion the effect of the sit at home order by the federal government in a bid to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
In a press release yesterday signed by the management of EKEDC, the management explained that they are in total support of the move by the federal government but the federal government has to agree to pick up the electricity bill of Nigerians used for the proposed 2 months but pending the approval of this, every electricity consumers should try as much as possible to pay their bills using the appropriate channels.
