Babajide Sanwo-Olu had just completed his 200 days in office as the executive governor of Lagos state, the celebration was done as an outlook of what his administration has been able to achieve so far within the last 100 days, from its previous celebration of 100 days in office.

Some of the achievements listed by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso include transportation management, as we know that the state is very prone to traffic gridlock, due to bad roads and so other factors, it is in this vein that the state governor declared a state of emergency on some key major roads in the state, some of this roads includes: Ikotun-Igando road,  Point road Apapa by Keystone bank,  Ilupeju Industrial Estate by Milo Basketball Court, The Ojota stretch of the Ikorodu Road, Kudurat Abiola Way, Apogbon Highway, Babs Animashaun Road, Abraham Adesanya on Lekki  Eric Moore/Abebe Junction, Surulere, Iju Road, Fagba Junction, Alfred Rewane Road, Ikoyi, Glover road junction to Falomo, Ilupeju Avenue by Ilupeju Secondary School, Mushin LGA, Allen Avenue, Ikeja LGA, Herbert Macaulay/Afrique Road, Lagos Mainland, Ogudu road, etc to mention but a few.

Also a partnership between uber and Lagos state waterways authority (LASWA) to launch the uberboat, an alternative mode of transport that will reduce the gridlock on the roads by reducing the number of cars on the road and not to forget that the governor had issued a statement that the Lagos metro train will be operational in the year 2021, a year earlier than the estimated time.

Another milestone the administration pointed out was the waste management of the state which had been moribund due to some unclarified issues in the last administration. He added that the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) also acquired 10 new boats to boost its marine waste operations in the state. The Lagos Blue Box initiative was launched on 5 September 2019 in Community Recycling Centres across five local council development areas (LCDAs), with recyclers strategically positioned to help drive the process

On the issue of health, He disclosed that in the last 200 days, a new, ultra-modern, 149-bed, Maternal and Childcare Centre (MCC) in Alimosho General Hospital was commissioned, facilitated through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, evidencing a working partnership between the federal and Lagos. He said the administration is working hard towards the completion of more MCCs in Badagry and Epe and others.

While on education, the administration commissioned a new primary classroom block, along with computer laboratories and outdoor recreational facilities in Ajegunle

In summary, these achievements are quite laudable and I will give kudos to the governor for these achievements but we still believe that more can be achieved.

The roads are definitely being fixed and most of them at the same time, therefore increasing the gridlock on the roads, I would have suggested that some are fixed and the ones that serve as an alternative route be left until those ones are completed so that during the fixing motorist can make use of the alternative routes. Gridlock nowadays is very vexing.

And if some of the roads listed are in your areas but are yet to be fixed, you can do well to let us know through your comments.
